Christmas weekend we got 14 inches of snow, the third largest on record for our area. The roads were a mess for about five days.

On New Years Day we had a bit of a warm spell here in Hampton Roads and I was able to go sailing for the first time in about a month. I was on the water from 11am to about 4pm. It was about 55 degrees and very very relaxing - man I needed that. Winds varied from about 5 to 13. Just the kind conditions that making having a furling jib so nice.

No power boaters out but there must have been at least 15 sailboats taking advantage.

This was the fourth time I have been out with my new Hyde 125 Genoa and I am still getting used to it. I have to say I really like my new sail. I had been using the 110 Lapper for the last year and it was nice to have the extra power from the Genoa. I think the 125 is really going to work well for me.

It was a nice day on the water and you just can't have too many of those.
