So for trip planning purposes... (based on Dismal Swamp Canal trip)
Trip Organization Things To Do Every Trip
- Organize charts and plan routes. Plan a stop for gas, ice, dump trash, take on water.
A cruising guide or may be useful.
- Inspect rigging make sure all rigging tape in good shape
- Check and change motor oil / gear case oil if due.
- Top off port-a-potty water. Ensure holding tank is empty and setup with disinfectant.
- Wash bedroll, sheets, fleece blanket and table cloth
- Charge all rechargable batteries (hand held VHF radio, etc.)
- Top off boat's water tank.
- Check that all electrical items are functioning correctly.
Last Minute Things To Do Every Trip
- Organize coolers and top off with ice
- Pack Kooleraire cooler with ice (frozen 2 liter bottles will last longer -
only good for one night)
Things To Bring
- Bimini
- Video camera, charger, blank tapes, video cord for viewing video.
- Inverter
- Cell phone and charger
- Magma grill
- Quart boat motor oil (SAE 10W-40 grade SF,SG or SH)
- Long seat cushions
- CDs / DVDs
Stock Replenishable Items
- Paper towels (one full roll in reserve)
- 2 boxes of tissues (small upright box)
- Wipes in popup container
- 2 gallon jugs of water.
- Off mosquito coils
- Insect repellant
- Suntan lotion (15 and +30)
- Extra stove butane bottle
- Check first aid kit for expired or spoiled items. Make sure any needed medicine
is packed so that it is water (humidity) proof.
